Developing an Authentic Brand for Tram Phan Tram

Where Do We Start?

For any project, starting may be the hardest part. When Tram Phan Tram came to us with their vision for their brand, we knew it was imperative to develop an authentic brand to tell the right story. To do this, we wanted to include various details of Southeast Asian culture and life. Although familiar (and lover!) of Southeast Asian cuisine and flavors, we were aware that we needed to dive deeper to understand, research, and explore the rich layers that embody Asian flavors.

Why Mood Boarding Matters

The first step was mood boarding. Although this may seem an unimportant step, mood boarding played a key role in the success of this brand development and allowed us to provide a visual exploration and creative direction. We were able to propose these ideas and share images, typography, color palettes to the client and be on the same page before developing mock-ups and designs. We may have also thrown in a trip to Vietnam to fuel inspiration, but who is bragging?

Designing with Intention

Once the moodboards were signed off by the client, we got to dive in deep into the design. Translating the inspiration and research into vibrant illustrations was high-key our favorite part! We took that inspirational spark and transformed it into a kaleidoscope of vibrant illustrations. We delved deep into the diverse facets of Vietnamese life, discovering even more about the rich culture along the way.

We brought out elements from different facets of Vietnamese life, and learned even more about the culture while we were doing it. The attention to detail and illustrating the different characters, delectable foods, and lively street life, was a way to spotlight and enhance the flavors of the syrups while simultaneously educating the potential buyers and anchoring the elements to the heart and soul of Vietnam and other Southeast Asian cultures. It was a journey of creativity and cultural immersion, where design and storytelling intertwined perfectly.

Topped Off with a Brand Guide

The visuals are on point, the messaging is spot on, and the brand is ready to conquer the world. But hold on, there's one crucial piece that ties it all together—the brand guide. Creating one and giving it to our client is a guaranteed method to educate them on their brand, ensure consistency and coherence, create trust, and a way to foster continued growth with their business and mission! A brand guide is more than just rules and guidelines; it's a window into the soul of your brand. It captures the core values, mission, and vision, preserving the very essence of what makes your brand unique. It's like a love letter to the brand's personality, ensuring that it shines through in every interaction, unlocking its true potential!
