In May 2023, two local Washingtonian bartenders joined forces to launch DC’s first AAPI Cocktail Week, a five-day celebration inviting both locals and visitors to explore various bars and enjoy special cocktails crafted exclusively for the occasion. The event lineup includes special occasions connecting cocktail enthusiasts with spirits makers and business owners, all while supporting and strengthening our local communities.

The mission of AAPI Cocktail Week is to spotlight the significant role of AAPI bartenders in the US hospitality industry. Did you know that only 3.7% of bartenders in the US are AAPI? The goal is to showcase the influence of Asian spirits and ingredients in bars and restaurants while providing a platform for AAPI bartenders to display their talents and cultures.

For this inaugural event, we needed to develop a fun and iconic identity that would resonate across diverse communities—a brand that felt celebratory, artful, representative, high-quality, and timeless.

With a hand-drawn logomark and typography, paired with a contemporary and sharp typeface as well as vivid, complementary colors, this brand is as fun and enticing as one of the cocktails poured during the five-day, ground-breaking celebration.
